Dear Wellfit Girls Community,
Wellfit Girls continues to closely monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Collier and Lee County. The health and safety of our participants, staff, volunteers and the entire Wellfit Girls community is our top priority. Looking ahead, we will be hosting in person and virtual programming starting January 2020. We will continue to have policies and procedures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19. These policies and procedures are subject to change at any time.
Wellfit Girls will continue to monitor information from the Florida Department of Health in Collier and Lee County, Collier County Public Schools (CCPS), The School District of Lee County (SDLC) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Our decision to resume in-person programming parallels the school’s decision to resume classes.
As a travel program, we are aware that domestic travel may increase the risk of infection. We also know the benefits of being in nature and the therapeutic effects of outdoor adventure opportunities. Wellfit Girls and Montana Wilderness School remain committed to our expedition in June as long as it is safe for us to get there.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly if you have questions, whether they are regarding our response, the community’s response or concerns specifically related to your family.
Again, we ask that you continue to follow CDC guidelines for physical distancing, wear masks to help prevent the spread of this virus to others, and let the Department of Health know about any flu-like illnesses in your household. We also encourage everyone to use common-sense precautions: wash your hands frequently and thoroughly, avoid shaking hands and most importantly, stay home if you are sick.
Best,
Brooke Spencer, Executive Director
